A Colorful Town Full of Joy: Senior Care Mural in Lexington, North Carolina

There’s something really special about turning a courtyard into a place where people can gather, reminisce, and smile together.

A Tiny Town Full of Heart 💛

At Carolina Senior Care in Lexington, the mission is simple: “Every Age.” This vibrant facility serves both live-in residents and visiting seniors from the community who come for classes, physical therapy, and group activities.

They wanted their open-air courtyard to feel like more than a courtyard… so we turned it into a tiny town.

120+ Feet of Whimsy

Across a 120-foot wall, I created a playful streetscape designed to spark joy and nostalgia:

  • A bright red barn

  • A double-decker clothing boutique with a pet shop

  • A cozy café

  • A classic general store (with candy, of course)

  • A traditional white chapel

  • A barber and flower shop (completed by a previous artist)

Colorful mural of buildings on a brick wall; bright blue sky with scattered clouds in the background, creating a vibrant, lively scene.

With a vivid, saturated palette and playful details, the goal was simple: create a space that invites gathering, gardening, storytelling, and daily engagement.

Now the courtyard isn’t just a place to pass through—it’s a place to explore.
